RICH in the 16 days of activism against Gender-Based Violence

Every year starting on the 25th November 2018, The Rwanda Interfaith council on Health joins the world in the activities lining with the 16 days of activism.
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls. The campaign runs every year from 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10th December, Human Rights Day.
Like every year, This year RICH is collaborating with partners in different districts in the activities under this 16 days of activism . on the 25th November 2018, RICH participated in the official launch of the campaign which started with a walk from the national Parliament to the Amahoro stadium where the event continued
On this 28th November 2018, in partnership with Muhanga district , in the southern province, the Rwanda interfaith council on health (RICH) and Oxfam have organised a community awareness campaign to end SGBV on women and girls with an emphasize on ending defilement of children.
To ensure that the message of this campaign reach a highest number of people, the campaign was started by a walk through the Muhanga city. During that walk, banners and other communication materials were spreading the message on ending violence against women and girls which is still a big problem in Rwanda and in Muhanga particularly.

During this campaign several communication startegies were used. Football, as the most common sport in Rwanda was also used during this campaign. A match between AS Muhanga and Magic FC was played and messages about the prevention and response to Sexual and Gender based violence were communicated in breaks

Distinguished guests such as Representatives of development partners, Rwanda Investigation Board, mayor of Muhanga district , the guest of honor, Mr Gasana Emmanuel ,the governor of Southerncommunicated messages on the importance and urgency to end SGBV against women and girls as it is one of the barrier to the development of our country.
